TWISTS AND TURNS OF LIFE

I have come across many twists and turns in my life. When it appears that my life is going smoothly, when I feel I am the high road to success, when everything appears to be calm and peaceful, when I am enjoying the blue sky and the lovely sun shine, when I think everything is bright and beautiful and I am in a state of everlasting bliss, all of a sudden something happens to throw my life out of gear and a fear slowly spreads all over me paralyzing my movement, my thinking and my entire body. I feel my world has come crashing down and I don’t know how to face the situation, where to go or how to solve the problem faced by me.

It could happen to anyone. It could be that some one close to us has passed away, a loss of a job, a serious sickness in the family or self, a serious misunderstanding among the family members, a debt which cannot be paid, the electricity meter in the house getting burned on account of overload, a customer canceling a big order and so on.

We wonder why this has happened to us and not to others, what serious crime have we done for this calamity to befall us, in what way we deserve this punishment. We think and think and think and grope in the dark. We don’t get any answer for days and days. Finally the calamity sinks in us and we accept the situation we are in. It is only then we try to look for a solution. We try desperate measures to extricate ourselves from the situation we are in. We pray hard to God to show us a way out. After a long and painful wait we get an answer like a bolt from the blue to overcome the supposedly insurmountable situation. Even then it takes a lot of will power, hard work, determination and sacrifice to extricate ourselves from the difficulty.

Once again we get back the spring in our steps, the sun starts shining, we can see the blue sky, the birds starts singing and every thing looks wonderful.

I suppose such ups and downs, trials and tribulations are part and parcel of our life and there is absolutely no need to panic when we are unknowingly sucked into the vortex of a calamity. We will always find a way out. Perhaps life would not be so interesting, exciting with so many adventures and challenges if we had a smooth ride and faced no difficulty at all.

EVERY PROBLEM HAS AN INBUILT SOLUTION. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO TEST OUR TALENTS AND OUR FAITH IN GOD AND OURSELVES.

  1. I think this is very true. No matter how smooth life goes for a time a trial is waiting just ahead or around the corner. I do think God allows those difficulties to shape our character and teach us to trust him.

And oh how those trials can hurt. But God promises never to allow anything to happen in our lives that would destroy us. If we stay close to Him then we will come out shining.

    Thank you for this post.

  3. Mr J , the happiest man on earth is the one who is reconciled to the fact that life is a series of problems. Job in the Old Testament says ,man is born unto trouble as the sparks fly upwards.

The real problems occur when instead of facing difficulties head on, people try to run away from them, ignore them or try escapism.

Problems are sent by God to test our faith and make us strong and patient and able to comfort others in their distress.

    Your post is very inspiring

  5. love your thoughts on how we handle problems...when we have them, we can become rather self centered thinking we are the only ones to have it, or that we have it worse than anyone which only makes us feel worse you know...i have come to expect lifes up and downs knowing that neither last forever provides some comfort...

  6. Your post reminds me of an old saying .... The light at the end of the tunnel is an exquisite vision when the downhill slide levels out.

  7. You are right about life, it goes smoothly and then it throws you a curve ball. We all handle difficult situations differently. Some people can't handle life's problems and need additional help from friends or doctors. I think these times make us stronger.

  11. You've described it so well ... the ups and downs of life. It doesn't seem to matter where we live, what gender we are, ethnicity, etc. ... we all suffer and enjoy alike.

  12. Hi Joseph, this is so true. Life does ebb and flow. How will we know good without the bad.It is easy to smile when things are good. Not so when they are not.I'm with you it is difficult when something interrupts my perfect world.

  15. (Forget another point) On the contrary, you may persist and limb on with the problem, then you suddenly turn a sharp corner and behold you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Problem solved! Never, never , never be paralyzed by problems. Get up and hobble, limp or even crawl on.

  18. Difficulties and struggles are God's way of saying - 'I trust you..' and that He believes in our capability to go on through such pains and hardships in life for He sees us strong... I believe life is not life without all these things we called 'trials' and we should all be thankful of having these our lives for it would be safe to assume that we're still trusted by Him. I had a very enjoyable time reading your thoughts in here. Thank you and have a nice day.(:

    God Bless.
