ARE YOU DAUNTED BY FAILURES?

Sometimes failures daunt us so badly in our life that we falter and give up on our dreams. History is replete with stories of failures who overcame their defeats and ultimately achieve the impossible and became famous. To be specific, Leonardo da Vinci,Pablo Picasso,Rabindranath Tagore,Thomas Edison,Alexander Graham Bell,Tom Cruise,Walt Disney,Winston Churchill,Agatha Christie,John Lennon,Amitabh Bachchan,Albert Einstein and so on succeeded despite their repeated failures in their chosen fields.

This is a comment written by me in Melanie Statnick's blog RABBIT HOLE ART in her post under the heading CURSED CANVAS. Melanie is a Mixed Media Artist from Canada residing in North Carolina. I agree art needs inspiration and sometimes even an artist of great experience finds it difficult to get that inspiration at crucial times. You have indeed put in a lot of hard work which I think is very extraordinary work and yet the end result did not match your high expectations. No doubt you have set very high standards for your self. To me what you have achieved is fabulous and praise worthy and worthy of appreciation. Sometimes we undertake ventures with great expectations and put in our heart and soul into it only to find our sweat and effort gone in vain. But this is how really great achievements are made possible. Failure is the stepping stone to success and more the number of failures more solid will future success be because we learn so much from each failures. It is not the number of times we fall down that matters but our capacity to get up and keep going that leads to success.

I appreciate your son's gesture. It is always the child who is the first to applaud mom's work at all times just as the mom is there for the child at all times.

  1. A wonderful post Joseph, we can be affected by our failures.....only if you let it happen. Sometimes one can learn from where they went wrong but then again some people never know where they went wrong.

Loved the new look at the beginning of your blog.
    Enjoy the week-end,
    Yvonne.

  2. it can certainly be hard when failure has dogged you to keep getting up instead of getting out...each failure is an opportunity to get it right or more right next time...

    your header...the eggs are beautiful...

  3. yup capacity of getting stand up after each failure is more important then getting succeeded. As a single success can be a result of some opportunity but the right attitude towards failure make us independent of any success.

  4. Thank you so much for this post i really appreciate your time. I never really look at my work as a fail or failure. Its either finished or not finished. When i run out of steam on a piece I will always set it aside and let it "sleep" for awhile.Too often i have made the mistake of "finishing" to "finish". I take more time and effort now it get it just as i see it in my mind. Sometimes my vision just fades out and I have to stop. When I step back for awhile, I can see where something needs work. When I step away I can put my mind at peace, and one day while i'm working on something different, ..There it is. What I need to do to finish..just floats in.

  7. There was a time I was defeated easily, but i am learning to take failure as a part of life and move on or try agin. Failure can be taken as experience, or an oppurtunity to broaden your viewpoint.... time to seek help. Its a learning time how NOT to do things. If i have sinned against God and thus failed its a time to repent..... seek forgiveness.

There are many shads to it.

  9. Avery interesting post. Failure is a part of ones life. We all face defeat and try to over come the ones we can. I also believe we are stronger after facing some failures, but must get up, dust ourselves off and go forward to see what is ahead. Have a nice week. Thank you for coming by.

  10. Beautiful advisory. I was remembering the story of a defeated kind who was taking refuge in a cave, There he saw a spider engaged in building its web. It failed several times and then changed the place and finally was successful in creating a beautiful web.The King got the message.

  11. This hit very close to home since my oldest son, with a Master's Degree in Architecture, has been without a job for almost two years. He is barely able to keep his nose above water and I pray thigs open soon ... so that he can look back and learn from this experience.

  12. Hi Joseph, it is true failure is a part of our lives. How we deal with it moving forward is important. If we stop at failure we go nowhere. The process begins as we overcome. Thanks for your thoughts.
