Our church celebrated Onam festival in advance although the real festival is still few more days away. This is because during festival there will be long holidays and many parishners will go to their native places to celebrate the festival with their families. Here are a few photos for your visual pleasure.ENJOY

ReplyDeleteWonderful. I understand that there are many denominations amongst the Kerala Christians. Do all of them celebrate Onam or is it confined to the Orthodox/Syrian Christians.
ReplyDeleteThe bench over which you are seated, reminds of my younger days in Kerala.
I see happiness too. I love the flowers also
ReplyDeleteThe photos are so interesting. Oh my lots of fun, tiger hunting and tug of war. Did your team win?

Joseph, thank you for a very colorful post showing how Onam is celebrated. However, like Ginnie stated, I admit to not knowing very much about this observance so I will be checking it out. The tiger hunt photo was somewhat distrubing because the one man was holding what appeared to be an automatic weapon.
ReplyDeleteThat is one good thing about Kerala.
ReplyDeleteEveryone celebrates every festival (and that is how it should be)
how cool is that! Glad I found you!! Or you found me!
ReplyDeleteHi Joseph, I like your pictures....GOD BLESS....
ReplyDeleteThis is some celebration, the little girls is so cute. I also saw an automatic weapon in the tiger hunt, very didturbing.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder - what next? - in India. You'd better tell us more what you're celebrating!
